上水天平山村休憩處 Tin Ping Shan Tsuen Sitting-out Area, Sheung Shui – 天然麻石 Natural Granite 荔枝面 R12 及光面

Tai Fong Company supplied natural granite in two finishes for the Tin Ping Shan Tsuen Sitting-out Area in Sheung Shui under Home Affairs Department Contract HAD 9OC111: bush-hammered (lychee) granite with R12 slip resistance for the paving, and polished granite as a decorative contrast.

Natural granite is used on most of Hong Kong’s parks, stadium surrounds and footpaths in Tsim Sha Tsui and on Hong Kong Island for its permeability, slip resistance and durability — it wears rather than cracks and keeps its colour for a century. Bush-hammered (lychee) finish gives the highest slip resistance (R12) for outdoor paving; flamed finish shows the raw texture of the stone; polished finish is elegant and easy to clean for external and internal walls.
